Occupational Therapist Our client provides post-acute rehabilitation and residential services for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Spinal Cord Injuries, and Neurological Disorders.Summary: Assists in the provision of screens, collection of assessment data, and direct treatment to a general rehab caseload and under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Participates in the clinical team process. Provides teaching and training to care giver staff. Participates in clinical program development.Responsibilities: Screens patients. Evaluates patients and develops appropriate care plans. May perform additional assigned administrative duties such as: assigning and overseeing patient care activities, medical record oversight, assuring execution of physician orders, ordering supplies, etc. Under a physician's order, provides direct patient treatments in accordance with an established plan of care. Treatment venue includes one-on-one, supervised and group. Contributes to the team meeting and decision-making process as defined by the program. Consults with and trains patients and care givers. Monitors efficiencies on an ongoing basis in collaboration with supervisor. Documents activities according to the company's clinical documentation system on a timely basis. Communicates effectively with patients, team members, customers and supervisor. Promotes positive customer relations.

May participate in the interviewing process for new staff. May participate in census building and marketing activities. Environmental Demands: Work is performed in the Rehabilitation Department, patient care units, and in the community (community integration outings, appointments, etc). Physical Requirements: Occasional physical effort with medium to heavy objects. Transferring patients weighing between 100 to 350 lbs. is occasionally required. Standing and walking for significant amounts of time is necessary. Good hearing and verbal skills required for directing staff, customer relations and marketing activities. Manual dexterity required for documentation needs, for manipulation of equipment and for direct patient care. Good visual skills required for patient assessment, documentation, and report analysis.

Ability to cope with periodic stress associated with changing census and staffing demands. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively for self and others. Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to articulate and comprehend the English Language. Bi-lingual skills may be required for certain client facilities. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy, and Professional Licensure where required by state law. Demonstrated ability to utilize independent and effective clinical judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills. | |
