Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. The Controller will play a crucial role in managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting our growth through acquisitions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Sage accounting software and a strong background in financial management within a private equity-backed environment.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making and financial planning.
- Acquisition Integration: Manage the financial integration of acquired companies, ensuring seamless transitions and alignment with corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Accounts Management: Supervise the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions.
- Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital to support the company’s operational needs and growth objectives.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely completion and addressing any audit findings or recommendations.
- Sage Expertise: Utilize Sage accounting software to its full potential, ensuring accurate data entry, reporting, and system integrity. Train and support staff in the effective use of Sage.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
- Strategic Support: Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management and the board of directors, supporting strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and long-term planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting or controller role, preferably within a private equity-backed services-based company.
- Proven experience with Sage accounting software is required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with financial due diligence and integration of acquisitions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
